6th Grade Math with Mrs. Hughes

Math 6

Students will be expected to do daily homework, including the weekends. Homework should be signed by a parent/guardian to ensure you have seen the homework your child has completed. Pop quizzes should be expected frequently.

We are using the website called Prodigy. It is a free, curriculum based "math game", for grades K-8, where assignments can be posted, students can practice different units and focus on different topics based on where they are struggling all while having fun! Students joined my class with a class code, so I can track to see their progress. Before tests, students will be working to prepare as well as working during some excel periods to sharpen mathematical skills. Parents, you can also link into their account, track their progress, and see where they may need some extra assistance. The first couple of weeks are "placement tests" just to see where they have started off. After that, assignments will be posted and we will be using this to review new topics learned in class. Please contact me with any questions!

Our Current Unit is Unit 5, Equations & Inequalities

Our Excel Project: Due April 30 (two months to complete)
"Dream Vacation"

1 Current Event is due each month except April.

Our excel periods are allotted to work on these projects. Whatever is not completed within the given time must be completed at home. Time is allotted to review for our upcoming state test during excel periods.

Our Extra Help Sessions: January 9, February 6, March 11, May 1, May 29

Our Next Test: March 28

We will periodically be taking quizzes leading up to our unit test. Each month students will be completing a current event article that pertains to math to make the correlation that math is seen everyday in all ranges of topics. Students will also be assigned monthly projects, found on their chromebooks, on their google classroom page.
