Grade 6

ELA for grade 6 is a prodigiously enjoyable time!

Grammar, vocabulary, and writing skills are all being refined.

Reading together new novels of inspiration

is letting our knowledge become quite the sensation!

In accomplishing all of this, God’s light is defined.

ELA/ Literature class is a wonderful experience this year! The students are currently working on our Lit/ELA unit where we will learn more about figurative language, analyze literary devices, and character traits with our first novel, A Wrinkle in Time. We are also refining our grammar skills as we study subjects, predicates, subject complements, and direct objects. As always, our Catholic identity is prevalent throughout our curriculum. Grade 7

ELA for grade 7 is quite a year filled with excitement! Vocabulary, writing, reading are our refinements.

Engaging ourselves with many inspiring novels

is allowing us to gain knowledge that is colossal!

With God guiding us in our work, we are forever enlightened.

ELA/Literature class is proving to be an extraordinary experience! We have finished Animal Farm by George Orwell. This novel was in conjunction with the social studies curriculum and allowed us to see the importance our Catholic values. Many quests have been accomplished to provide background information for this allegory. We will continue to focus on refining grammar, writing, and vocabulary skills. Therefore, the total amount for the Reading Log and Journal should be at least 30 minutes. **

Grade 8‚Äč (Click here for important dates for the end of the school year)
Lourdes’ grade 8 class is the place to be

as we refine writing, grammar, and our morality.

We are reading a considerable amount of stupendous books,

and doing our work using positive outlooks;

while showing the Holy Spirit in vitality!

ELA/Literature class is surely exciting this year! Our Shakespearean Unit has been entertaining as we read and act out "Romeo & Juliet." We are mastering grammar skills as we review subject and object complements, direct and indirect objects, gerunds, infinitives, and participles. In conjunction with Religion class, we are focusing on spreading God's light being people of hope. We are further studying being a part of a community of disciples. We are correlating our gifts of the Holy Spirit with the Beatitudes and works of mercy to enhance our knowledge and wisdom.
