We are off to a wonderful start!
This trimester we are focusing on reviewing and learning many new concepts.
In Religion, we are studying about our class saints are Saint Michael and Kateri Tekakwitha. She was the first Native American saint and she was born in New York. We are also setting spiritual goals to guide our path this year.
In ELA, we are engaged in a balanced literacy approach to improve our reading and writing skills. We study grammar, vocabulary, spelling, and various reading comprehension and writing components to build strong ELA learners.
We write in our journals every day and share the written word. We will also be starting our first novel, The Lemonade War.
Our math studies are designed to solidify previous concepts and explore new ones.
Right now, we are focusing on place value, standard form, expanded form, and written form as well as addition, subtraction, and multiplication.
Social studies has been a wonderful experience learning about the continents, local and national geography and preparing to learn about our national and local government before Election Day! We cannot wait to participate in our Current Event projects and hands on activities through out the trimester.
Our Science curriculum is filled with plenty of hands on activities and STREAM activities to create outside. We have been discussing the tools scientists use during an experiment, how to observe, infer and make a hypothesis. We will be further touching upon the scientific method, plants, animals and measure in the upcoming weeks.
