Hello! My name is Jean Cammarota and I am the fifth grade teacher in 5-2! I am blessed to be teaching at Our Lady of Lourdes Roman Catholic School for the 2022-2023 school year. Enthusiasm and the desire to share my faith and academic skills with my students is found in my classroom each day. My goal is to help each child reach their potential and strive to work hard and learn new skills daily.
I received my Graduate degree at CUNY Queens College. I am a member of St. Agnes Cathedral Parish where I raised my three children and currently reside with my husband.

A peek inside 5-2:
In Math, fifth grade students will develop fluency and use rigor to achieve grade level skills. We work with math operations and algebraic thinking for whole numbers, decimal numbers, and fractions. We explore geometry using solid figures, angle measurements and introduce the formula for finding and understanding volume. We will also review Data and Statistics and develop real world problem solving skills.
In Science, we explore many areas of study, such as, How Scientists Work, The Engineering Process, Body Systems, Ecosystems, and the Solar System. Students learn and develop inquiry skills through hands-on activities involving the many tools of the scientist.
Our students will develop an understanding of the history of our nation through its progress and growth. From early exploration, the westward movement, and the growth of our government, students will explore the history of the United States of America.
Being faith filled learners, our fifth graders will discover the challenges and opportunities of being missionary disciples to all creation. Celebrating our faith through the liturgy each week, daily prayer, and bible study, our children will become loving followers of Jesus.
