Hello Welcome to Middle School Science! My name is Courtney Regan, 
I am thrilled to be your child's teacher this year. 

I am a product of Catholic education,
I went to St Raymonds in East Rockaway,
the Brother Fox Latin School, and Kellenberg, 
I attended Sacred Heart University where I earned my masters in Education
I taught in New York City schools for 8 years (Brooklyn and Queens)
then I took off time to raise my 4 children.
I am very  happy that my return to teaching is here at Our Lady of Lourdes. 
 O.L.L is a beautiful and nurturing community for all students, teachers and staff!

                 Middle School Science Curriculum

 O.L.L has adopted a new program called Inspire Science. Inspire Science 
is designed to gradually build knowledge and skills from simpler concepts to more sophiscated ones. For example, students need to understand the water cycle before learning about how the environment is impacted by humans. Each grade also has an eighty minute lab once a week where we do hands on experiements. 
6th Grade Topics- Cells and Life, Body Systems, Reproduction of Organisms, Energy in the Atmosphere, The Water Cycle, Weather and Climate, Human Impact on the Environment
7th Grade Topics- Understanding Matter The Changing Earth, Earth's Resources, Interactions with the Ecosystems (photosynthesis, flow of matter, benefits of biodiversity) 
8th Grade Topics- Geologic Time, Evidence of Evolution, Energy and Motion (force and gravity). Waves and Light, The Sun, Earth, and Moon, exploring the universe
